Breaking News

Politicians lie.

Seriously.

They lie.

With relatively little consequences.

So, what if right after they took their oath of office, we also administered the standard courtroom oath for testimony:

"Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?"

And made it appply to their total time in office.

With some serious teeth behind it.

Like immediate and full federal prosecution for perjury in the event of any untruth.

With jail time a mandatory result.

I don't know about you, but I'm sick and tired of politicians looking the cameras right in the eye and lieing through their teeth.

That's not what they represented when they ran for office, and based on that representation, that's not what people voted for.

Taking another oath won't fix all of it, but it might make them think twice about going to jail, and it won't cost us billions to implement.

Just a thought.
