Plum Choice

Every once in a while I come across a company that actually does what it says it will, when it says it will, at the price they say they will.

No excuses, no upsells, no bull.

Just good, old fashioned real customer service.

Plum Choice is a computer service company (www.plumchoice.com) that has a staff of well qualified geeks who can take control of your computer remotely and take all the viruses, malware, and spyware out.

They can also make things communicate with each other, resolve conflicts, and other geeky stuff us mere mortals don't even begin to comprehend.

Yesterday I became a victim of the latest malware, the Vista Security 2010 virus.

A virus so new my really good protection schemes didn't recognize it, and one which totally takes over your computer barring all access to any programs except itself.

It looks very official, like a notification from Microsoft, saying your Vista software has detected a threat and wants to run a security scan.

If you get this message, click only the red X close button.

And then call Plum Choice.

They'll disinfect your computer and all your files.

It took them over two hours to sort mine out, for which I paid all of $99.

Where else can you hire a team (yes, more than one of them were working on it at a time) of software experts for two and a half hours for less than $100?

At the end, it was successful, and they even did a couple of other tweaks to improve operating speed that had resulted from a year or so of use, additional programs, and the like.

The professionalism and attitude of these people is amazing, even when dealing with a very complex problem that they didn't have a lot of experience facing.

Vista Security 2010 hasn't been out all that long it turns out, and it morphs into different variations periodically, making fixing it a tough deal.

These guys did it right, did it competently, did it with a great attitude, and did it with a respect for my business.

I rarely endorse stuff, here or in the real world, but I recommend Plum Choice to anyone who needs the help.

I'd be plum crazy not to.
